California voters, no strangers to complicated statewide ballots, face critical economic and environmental questions in the November 2 election. Absentee voting began during the first week of October, with nearly 40 percent of all votes expected to be cast before Election Day.

ANN NOTTHOFF, California Advocacy Director, NRDC
Annie has worked in the San Francisco office of NRDC since 1981. She directs a broad range of campaigns to promote public health and environmental protection in California and nationally, most recently leading the fights to pass the State’s landmark clean car and global warming bills (AB 1493 and AB 32). Before assuming the director position, Ms. Notthoff’s work at NRDC focused on coastal and marine management issues. She is currently a State Senate appointee to the California Coastal Conservancy and northern vice president of the California League of Conservation Voters. She has held appointed positions on the California State Oil Spill Technical Advisory Committee, the San Francisco Harbor Safety Committee and the CALFED Bay Delta Advisory Council. Ms. Notthoff received her undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon and a Masters of City and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley. She lives with her husband Dwight Holing in Orinda, CA. They have a daughter in law school and a son just out of college.
