Oil Giants Targeting America's Coastlines

Last year, President Bush and Big Oil's friends in Congress succeeded in lifting the decades-old moratorium on new offshore drilling. If that oil development proceeds, America's most spectacular beaches – in California, New England, Florida and elsewhere – could face the specter of catastrophic oil spills.

We must prevail on the Obama Administration to block coastal drilling and usher in a cleaner, greener energy future.

Victory for Utah's Redrock Wilderness!

The Obama Administration just announced that it will cancel 77 leases for oil and gas drilling in Utah's Redrock wilderness, protecting more than 100,000 acres of pristine lands. These leases were originally issued under the Bush Administration during its final days in office, despite overwhelming national opposition and protest messages from 148,000 Action Fund activists. NRDC - our partner organization - had already succeeded in winning a temporary restraining order that blocked the sale, but the Obama Administration has removed the threat for good.
