Montana ads hit Trump on national parks funding

WASHINGTON (December 6, 2017) – Television ads sponsored by the NRDC Action Fund began airing across Montana today encouraging Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) to oppose deep cuts to federal funding for Montana priorities such as national parks.

The Trump administration, including Interior Sec. Ryan Zinke, has proposed slashing funding for the National Park Service while also considering raising park entry fees, a move that could limit access for Montana families and damage the state’s outdoor economy.

“National parks like Glacier and Yellowstone are vital to our way of life, our communities, and Montana businesses,” said Matt Skoglund, Senior Advisor to the NRDC Action Fund based in Bozeman. “Senator Tester has stood strong against President Trump’s reckless disregard for America’s public lands and our environment. We hope Montanans will tell the senator how important it is to them and their families that he keep fighting for our priceless national parks as well as the enforcement of the clean air and clean water laws we rely on.”

Funding of the federal government is set to expire on December 8 and decisions about funding priorities are likely to be made before the end of the year.
