WASHINGTON (March 28, 2022) – The NRDC Action Fund today launched a national television ad calling on Congress to move quickly to pass clean energy legislation that will help to end America’s dependence on fossil fuels and lower energy costs for families. The ad comes amid the fossil fuel industry’s call for more drilling and fewer environmental safeguards, a demand it made mere hours after Russia invaded Ukraine, sending gasoline prices soaring.
“American families are at the mercy of the oil companies’ profiteering because that’s the way the oil companies want it,” said Kevin S. Curtis, executive director of the NRDC Action Fund. “The answer to wild price swings and unstable supply isn’t to double down on addiction to fossil fuels. Rather, it is to build a future where clean, renewable domestic energy is abundant, cheaper, more reliable, and healthier for all communities.”
The ad, produced in partnership with Climate Power, will air on national cable channels and in the DC market, accompanied by a digital buy. It is the first ad in the NRDC Action Fund’s new $1 million campaign aimed at winning federal action on clean energy in this Congress. The NRDC Action Fund, which partners with the affiliated Natural Resources Defense Council on advocacy and lobbying campaigns, has invested more than $7 million to date in the fight to help pass President Biden’s climate agenda.
