WASHINGTON (September 30, 2023) – The U.S. federal government is set to shut down at midnight tonight, with wide-ranging impacts across the country including the suspension of critical EPA enforcement activities.
NRDC Action Fund President Manish Bapna issued the following statement:
“The Republican majority is standing in the way of Congress carrying out its number one responsibility – keeping the basic services we all rely on running. We depend on our government to protect the quality of the water we drink, the air we breathe and the food we eat. This is the serious business of safeguarding public safety and health. If these Members of Congress can’t get the job done, we need to do our job and vote them out in 2024.”
