NRDC Action Fund Endorses Barnes for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin

WASHINGTON (August 4, 2022) – The NRDC Action Fund, a national environmental organization, announced today it has endorsed Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes (D) in the Wisconsin race for the U.S. Senate. Barnes was elected as a State Representative in 2012 and then joined Gov. Tony Evers’ 2018 campaign, becoming Lieutenant Governor at 31. He is only the second Black elected official to win statewide office in Wisconsin’s history. Barnes chairs the Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change.

“Mandela Barnes is the leader we need in the Senate, especially at such a crucial moment in the fight for the future of our democracy,” said Kevin S. Curtis, executive director of the NRDC Action Fund. “Unlike Ron Johnson, Mandela Barnes will put the needs of Wisconsin families above the destructive agenda of the fossil fuel industry. He’ll stand up to polluters and fight for a clean energy economy that grows jobs, lowers costs, and makes our communities healthier.”

The NRDC Action Fund is endorsing its largest-ever slate of candidates during the 2022 political cycle. NRDC Action Votes and NRDC Action Fund PAC, political committees affiliated with the organization, raise millions of dollars in support of these and other pro-environment candidates through GiveGreen.com, a donor platform that has already raised more than $18 million for pro-environment candidates this cycle and more than $100 million since its inception in 2009.
