WASHINGTON (March 8, 2022) – The NRDC Action Fund, a national environmental organization, today announced its endorsement of Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.) in her bid for a full term as New York’s governor.
“Governor Hochul has moved quickly to strengthen New York’s standing as a leader in clean energy,” said Manish Bapna, president of the NRDC Action Fund. “She understands that bold climate action is an economic winner–a jobs creator that will cut costs for our families and help to make New York a healthier and more prosperous place to live, work and visit. Since taking office in August of last year, Hochul has launched an effort to boost New York’s offshore wind industry by proposing a nation-leading $500 million investment in wind energy infrastructure, a plan that would create more than 6,800 jobs and add millions of New York homes to the ranks of those powered by wind. Her first budget called for a dramatic increase in the state’s Environmental Protection Fund and a $500 million investment in clean drinking water infrastructure. Hochul has also proposed a $4 billion Clean Water, Clean Air, Green Jobs Bond Act for the 2022 general election ballot, which would be the largest Environmental Bond Act in state history if voters approve it this November.
