WASHINGTON (August 16, 2023) – The NRDC Action Fund, a national environmental organization, today announced its first-ever state legislative endorsements, backing eight candidates for the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates in an election that will determine control of each chamber and whether the Commonwealth continues its leadership on clean energy and clean cars.
“Gov. Youngkin is trying hard to appease the fossil fuel industry and roll back the enormous progress Virginia has made on clean energy in recent years, but Virginia voters can stop him by electing environmental champions like these candidates, who will put Virginians first, not polluters,” said Mike Cassesso, political and advocacy director for the NRDC Action Fund. “That’s why we are proud to endorse candidates who will stand up for their communities and fight for clean air, safe drinking water, and the vast economic benefits of a clean energy economy.”
The newly endorsed candidates are:
- Michael Feggans for HD-97
- Phil Hernandez for HD-94
- Monty Mason for SD-24
- Russet Perry for SD-31
- Danica Roem for SD-30
- Aaron Rouse for SD-22
- Schuyler VanValkenburg for SD-16
- Rodney Willett for HD-58
