NRDC Action Fund Launches Ads to Support Climate Action, Clean Water in New Jersey

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 1, 2021) — The NRDC Action Fund today announced a six-figure paid advertising campaign in support of President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda aimed at the constituents of Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-N.J.). Ads are running while Malinwoski is in his home state over this month’s Congressional recess. The ad campaign consists of six billboards in Malinowski’s district, which includes Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren, and Mercer counties. The campaign also includes digital and social media ads and print and online newspaper advertising.

“Tom Malinowski is supporting this once-in-a-generation opportunity to dramatically improve people’s lives, tackle climate change, and create high quality jobs. Congress should immediately take up and pass the full Build Back Better agenda upon their return to Washington, because the stakes are too high to ignore,” said Kevin S. Curtis, executive director of the NRDC Action Fund. “New Jersey alone has 350,000 lead-tainted water lines that are dangerous to children’s health. Low-income communities and communities of color are much more likely to be served by these water systems that consistently violate federal drinking water standards. The Build Back Better agenda would replace lead pipe and service lines in America and modernize the nation’s drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.”

One part of the Build Back Better agenda, the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that passed the U.S. Senate earlier this month, includes a grant program for advanced energy projects that reduce greenhouse gases and create jobs; amends the Safe Drinking Water Act to direct the replacement of all lead service lines with priority for disadvantaged communities; and reduces transportation emissions and congestion.
