WASHINGTON (November 4, 2025) – Virginia voters overwhelmingly backed Abigail Spanberger and pro-environment legislators to lead the Commonwealth, giving her a mandate to implement her vision of a clean energy future that lowers electric bills and protects public health. The NRDC Action Fund, a national environmental organization that endorsed and supported Spanberger’s campaign, congratulated her on her victory.
“This is an exciting and important win for Virginia’s future,” said Manish Bapna, president and CEO of the NRDC Action Fund. “Voters chose a governor and a House of Delegates that will fight for families being squeezed by rising energy prices. We are excited to work with Governor-elect Spanberger and the General Assembly to make Virginia a leader in clean energy innovation and the jobs it creates.”
The NRDC Action Fund’s volunteers made over 650,000 voter contacts during the final months of the campaign, working to get out the vote in key districts where the group’s legislative endorsees also won.
GiveGreen, a donor platform aimed at supporting pro-environment candidates, raised more than $700,000 for Spanberger and Virginia legislative candidates and committees during the cycle. GiveGreen is a joint project of NRDC Action Votes and LCV Victory Fund.
